Workers' Compensation First Steps
If you experience a workplace injury here are the first steps you should take

Seek medical attention.
If it is an emergency situation, call 911 for immediate assistance.

Notify your employer right away.
No compensation is due until notice is given. Inform your employer in writing of how the injury occurred and include the date, place and time of your injury as well as the names of any witnesses. Be sure to keep a copy for your records.

Complete an incident report.
Once informed of your injury, your employer must immediately provide you an incident report form. Fill it out completely and submit it right away. Always be sure to keep a copy. As soon as your report is submitted, your employer must file a “first report of injury” with the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and provide you with medical assistance.
