ACA Law has reported seven-figure results in serious injury and wrongful death cases. Past results don’t determine the value or outcome of a new claim, which depends on the evidence, available insurance, liability, and documented damages.
More Than 24,000 Cases Handled Since 1982
All three of our attorneys are Board Certified Civil Trial Advocates through the National Board of Trial Advocacy, a credential focused on civil trial practice. Our attorneys also have more than 80 years of combined legal experience.
Our attorneys have been selected as Pennsylvania Super Lawyers. Their trial credentials and decades of casework become especially important when an insurer disputes fault, challenges the extent of an injury, or refuses to offer a settlement that accounts for the documented losses.
How We Investigate & Build a Personal Injury Claim
We begin by determining how the incident occurred and preserving the available proof. Our attorneys investigate claims, gather evidence, communicate with insurers, negotiate for resolution, and take cases to trial when necessary.
Depending on the circumstances, our work may include:
- Reviewing accident evidence: Reports, photographs, video, physical evidence, and witness information can help establish what occurred.
- Documenting the injury: Medical records and treatment information can demonstrate the nature, severity, and continuing effects of an injury.
- Calculating financial losses: Medical expenses, lost wages, reduced earning capacity, property damage, and other supported losses may affect the claim’s value.
- Handling insurance claims: We communicate with insurers and evaluate settlement proposals against the evidence and documented losses.
- Preparing for litigation: If negotiation doesn’t produce an acceptable resolution, we can prepare the case for court.
A workplace injury may lead to a Pennsylvania workers’ compensation claim rather than, or sometimes alongside, a negligence claim against another party. We examine how the injury happened and determine which legal process may apply instead of treating every workplace incident as a standard personal injury case.
Work Directly With an Attorney Throughout Your Case
Our clients speak directly with an attorney from the first conversation through the resolution of their case. We don’t remove the lawyer from the relationship after representation begins. Instead, we keep clients informed as evidence develops, negotiations progress, and litigation decisions arise.
We offer free consultations with in-person and virtual options. Virtual meetings can reduce travel barriers for people managing pain, medical appointments, transportation difficulties, or work restrictions. ACA Law also has a Spanish-speaking team member who can assist with communication.

Pennsylvania Injury Deadlines & Lackawanna County Courts
The deadline for taking legal action depends on the injury, potential defendant, and type of claim. Waiting can also make records, video, witness information, and other evidence harder to obtain.
Timing considerations may include:
- Personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits: Pennsylvania generally allows two years to begin an action for personal injury or wrongful death caused by negligence. Exceptions and claim-specific rules may alter that deadline.
- Claims involving government units: A claim against a Pennsylvania government unit may require written notice within six months under 42 Pa.C.S. § 5522, subject to statutory conditions and exceptions.
- Workplace injury reports: Pennsylvania guidance states that an employee should report an injury within 21 days to preserve retroactive workers’ compensation benefits. Providing notice more than 120 days after the injury may result in lost eligibility, subject to applicable rules.
The Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas is part of Pennsylvania’s 45th Judicial District. Depending on venue, jurisdiction, and the parties involved, civil litigation arising from an injury in the county may proceed through this court. We evaluate those procedural questions before filing and prepare each litigated claim for the appropriate court.
