We Fight for Workers in Lackawanna County & Northeastern PA

Every day, Pennsylvania workers face real risks on the job. These can range from lifting heavy materials, operating machinery, and driving for work to performing repetitive tasks. When a workplace injury or occupational illness disrupts your life, the consequences can be long-lasting. When that occurs, Abrahamsen, Conaboy & Abrahamsen P.C. can protect your rights and pursue the benefits to which you are entitled under Pennsylvania law.

Our firm has represented injured workers’ compensation claims since 1982. Our attorneys understand how disruptive a work injury can be to your health, income, and family life. We can take on the legal burden, handle all communication with employers and insurance carriers, and fight to ensure you receive full and fair workers’ compensation benefits. We work on a contingency basis; you pay no upfront attorney fees unless we win your case.

Understanding the Pennsylvania Workers’ Compensation System

Pennsylvania’s workers’ compensation system provides benefits to employees who are injured on the job. In exchange for these benefits, workers generally cannot sue their employer directly. While this system offers essential protections, it also limits what injured workers can recover, and strict rules and procedures govern it.

Workers’ compensation claims are often contested. Experienced defense attorneys represent employers and their insurance carriers, and valid claims are frequently denied, delayed, or challenged.

Many injured workers are surprised to learn that a significant number of initial claims do not get approved without a legal fight, particularly when injuries involve preexisting conditions, repetitive trauma, or disputes over whether the injury is work-related.

Benefits Available Through Workers’ Compensation

Depending on your situation, Pennsylvania workers’ compensation benefits may include:

  • Medical benefits covering all reasonable and necessary treatment related to the work injury
  • Wage-loss benefits for time missed from work due to injury or illness
  • Specific loss benefits for the permanent loss of use of a body part
  • Disfigurement benefits for permanent and visible scarring
  • Death benefits for surviving family members in fatal workplace accidents

If your injury was caused by a defective product, faulty equipment, or a negligent third party, you may also be entitled to pursue a separate personal injury claim, allowing recovery beyond workers’ compensation limits.
